Most water meters use positive displacement technology, which cannot differentiate between air and water. As a result, users are often charged for air as if it were water. This air-water mix causes turbulence that leads to pressure and velocity fluctuations, along with air bubbles that occupy volume—impacting meter accuracy.

The valve is installed on the owner’s side of the water meter and creates a controlled back pressure, forming a compression zone on the utility side. This zone compresses the air, preventing it from taking up measurable volume. The result is consistent water pressure, laminar flow, reduced vibrations, and improved meter accuracy. Once water passes through the meter and the AquaFlow Valve, it returns to normal conditions.

Functioning as a precision restrictor, the smart water valve narrows the pipe diameter briefly (just 3mm) before returning to full port, reducing flow by only 5%. This design mimics the Venturi effect, accelerating flow while reducing static pressure. Based on Bernoulli’s principle, this effect ensures optimal flow dynamics with minimal energy loss, enhancing overall water efficiency.
